What our experts think

Geomag proved a great hit with our testers who kept on returning to it! They loved getting creative with the rods and balls and built a range of structures. Children enjoyed developing their understanding of the scientific concept of magnetism – there was lots of discussion as to why the ends attracted and repelled, complimenting children’s curriculum learning in a fun and practical way.

Some of our testers used their investigative skills to join the magnets with other magnetic materials – one of them even used the magnets to move objects without touching them! This kind of scientific investigation really promotes imagination and creativity, as well as the concept itself. This is also a good toy for reinforcing the properties of 2D and 3D shapes taught in Key Stages 1 and 2.

The children could build shapes, name them and talk about the various properties – there were lots of opportunities for extending children’s use of mathematical vocabulary.
